Do I have to pay to look up a lease?
No, and you never will. Every lease, operator, county, field and pipeline page is free, needs no account, and is open to crawlers. A plan buys extraction, not access — the right to pull those records out as a file, in bulk.
What counts as a row?
One line in the file you download. A lease's full monthly production history back to 1993 is about 400 rows, so Starter's 5,000 rows is roughly twelve leases of complete history in a month, Standard is about sixty, and Advanced is about 250. Browsing those same records on the site costs nothing at all.
Which plan should I start on?
Starter, unless you already know you pull more than about a dozen leases of full history in a month. The plans differ by volume alone, so you can move up the moment you meet the limit and nothing about the data changes when you do.
Do unused rows roll over?
No. The budget is a monthly allowance and it resets on the first of each calendar month, measured in UTC. It is a rate limit rather than a bucket of credits you own, which is why it is priced per month and not per row.
Why is there no free export?
Because reading is the free product and extraction is the paid one, and a token allowance of fifty rows would be worth nothing to a professional while muddying that sentence. Every record stays readable at no cost. Taking a copy away in a file is the line.
What can I export, and in what format?
Four datasets: monthly production and value for a lease, the wells on a lease, the leases an operator runs, and your own saved portfolio. All four write CSV. Wells also write GeoJSON, because a well has its own coordinate — a monthly production figure does not, so offering it as GeoJSON would produce a file that opens in QGIS and is wrong.
Which states are covered?
Texas only, today. It is the largest and the hardest to assemble, which is why it came first. Do not subscribe expecting another state — when one is added it will be announced, and it will be free to read like this one.
Is a reported value the same as my royalty cheque?
No, and this is the most important thing on the page to understand. A value here is the volume the operator filed with the Railroad Commission multiplied by that month's published benchmark price. It is not a sale price, a royalty payment, or an appraisal. Your cheque reflects your decimal interest, your operator's deductions, and the price they actually realised. We do not hold your decimal interest — it lives in your division order, which is a private contract — so we can show you what your operator told the state, but we cannot tell you what you are owed.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time, from your account. A monthly plan stops at the end of the period you paid for. A yearly plan runs to the end of its term. Cancelling never removes your access to the free records, because nothing gates them, and it never deletes a saved tract — you simply cannot add more once you are past the free allowance.
